Player Support Team

The Constable

The role of the Player Support Team is:

  • To meet and greet new players.
  • To adjudicate on matters of Canon.
  • To moderate RP when there is a disagreement between players or factions.
  • To provide and advertise a Roleplay Plot when no other player seems to be running a plot.

Plot Procedure

Everyone can suggest plots to the Team. If they are large, spanning multiple factions, they will be considered by the Team as a whole and as many faction reps as are required. For small plots, this is not necessarily required, although we can coordinate RP better if we know what is going on. Everyone can run their own plots too.

Narratives developed by members of the community do not normally require approval from the Team, but those involved in the plot should inform the Team of the progress of plots and any points of history established (in 'Plot Progress' threads on the Forum) - and of any 'hidden' actions (like storing some spice in an innocuous container in the geological testing station). Plots that need some sort of approval from the story team include:

  • Plots that may significantly alter the standing of factions (e.g. it really ruins the game for some players if Fremen banned from the rock).
  • Plots that require or expect certain factions to act in a certain way (or characters, unless you have their permission).
  • Plots that may involve the revelation of pre-existing secrets (including all plots that involve the Catacombs and outfreyn).

The creator of an arc should send to members of the Story Team and any involved parties the full details of the plot. If approved, the creator would then submit a cut-down version - "taster text" which included only those details they wanted to see published; a thread for plot would then be added to the forum with this taster text and the casting call. Should the creator of an arc fall absent, the Story Team will ensure the plot is maintained and will be responsible for posting any additional information as deemed to be required.

Disputes

If we receive a message about an ongoing situation, we will offer to mediate, (and, if appropriate, ask for a teleport). We will then normally ask for each person's side of the story, try to find points of agreement, and try to direct parties along lines which will lead to a resolution of the situation in which all parties are happy. If the issue is resolved, confidentaility can be discussed if one party feels they'd rather not discuss a misunderstanding further. If the disagreement is not solved with an reasonable length of discussion, the Team member will start a publicly-visible thread on the forum in which both parties would have to have their stance documented, and the Team (and any other appropriate groups) will help arbitrate.

If it is a past incident that is being reported, then the Team member will file a notice on a forum private to the Team (Council's presence on which yet to be decided). The Team may issue a private warning if it is found to be necessary, and the person initiating the complaint will be notified of this development. If further incidents are reported a second warning will be issued and the complainant and the council notified (so they are aware of the problem in advance). On the third occasion, a ban recommendation will be put to the council; any violation of the Linden Labs Terms of Service should be reported to Linden Labs by council when a user is banned.
