Founding Principles
When the Splintered Rock Sim was being created, the group setting it up began with the following governing principles:
- There will be no payment requirements in order to enter the sim or to participate in normal roleplay activities.
- The Player Support Team have the right to ban any Second Life resident that does not follow the sim's published Rules of Behaviour or who is deemed to be causing undue disruption or distress to other sim users. The Player Support Team shall provide evidence to the Governing Council concerning any and all such bans which they enforce. Any resident banned may appeal to the Governing Council at a council meeting to have the ban revoked.
- The sim will accept the expression of mature content during roleplay such as but not limited to sexual and violent themes. The use of such content shall be strictly governed by the sim's published Rules of Behaviour and must always be consensual.
- Death, incapacitation or other alteration to the physical manifestation of characters through roleplay is only permitted with the consent of the player controlling the character.
- Roleplay on the sim will be managed by the Player Support Team. The Player Support Team will try to ensure that roleplay themes follow the canon of accepted ideas concerning the Dune universe and is consistent with previous events that have occurred during roleplay on the sim. The Player Support Team will be the final arbiter of all disputes regarding Dune canon and any roleplay background.
- A limited number of residential properties will be offered to sim users who wish to own property on the sim. The Governing Council will set a fair rent for such properties and reserve the right to change the rent or withdraw rental permissions with reasonable notice. Any resident who is banned will forfeit any rights to any property rented and any rental monies paid. Only such properties as indicated by The Council will be available for rental and sub-letting of properties is strictly forbidden.
